This year Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper join M-A-C’s VIVA GLAM program as the “new voices” of the campaign to help women battle HIV/AIDS.

“Were raising the VIVA GLAM bar this year with the voices of two incredible artists,” fund spokesman John Demsey said. “Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are bringing womens issues to the forefront of the HIV/AIDS crisis.”

The program has already raised more than $150 million to combat the disease and focuses on hot spots around the world, from South Africa to the rural southern United States.

I’m currently assembling a very small edition bound portfolios of an edit of NYC street photography that will represent that body of work to date, 50 prints to be exact (more on these when a few are finished). I think this clip perfectly sums up what, in my adult life, I now find to be a very offensive quality of The Little Mermaid: how plain and simply STUPID is Eric. He is vacant, dull, dumb; I’m not even sure what Ariel sees in him.

SO dumb, he is, that despite the fact that Ariel obviously has red hair - as she sings “just you and me / and I could be / part of your world,” we the viewers see through Eric’s eyes a slightly blurry and gold-enraptured face of redhead singing Ariel - he later mistakes her for a dark-haired woman (Ursula in disguise). Now, this isn’t a problem for children to digest. And in some way, it might be comforting to know that Eric values Ariel’s voice - the clue that leads him to confuse her & Ursula - over her looks. But really, does this make sense? Not to mention he is seconds away from making out with Ariel and then moves on rapidly to Ursula later that night. Can we say player? (And why isn’t Ariel invited to the wedding? So many problems with this storyline!)
