A little bit about…

Jamila.
It’s an earned name, from the Moroccans.1
I am an artist & writer & editor, always full of ideas and constantly looking for inspiration around me. This is where I collect what I find.
At a young age I was determined to go to New York for my next life phase, and I did, to study Literature (English, American, Arabic). Words will always be my closest friends, my favorite tools. I find them to be just as tangible and visual as any other form of art.
Lately I am exploring ideas of beauty & physicality, textures, organic and manmade. I am fascinated by life’s evolution and its ever-developing decay.
I now live in Brooklyn, tucked away in a corner, surrounded by trash heaps, the thunderous LIRR and a clan of stray cats. Pondering, philosophizing, dreaming and creating.
1. It loosely means “beautiful”
