Some say that the artist’s inspiration comes from the “subconscious” mind - a greater level of consciousness that has knowledge unlimited by space and time. I can’t help but wonder if my greater consciousness has a passion for flying above NYC at night. Why not?
Left: “It wafted out of my dream,” December 2009, part of my Meditations in Entropy series shown at Thornton Room in NYC. 22in x 28in. Acrylic, spray paint, plant matter, pussy willows on stretched canvas.
Right:

This tantalizingly clear photo of New York City at night was taken by the astronauts during the Space Radar Laboratory mission of the Space Shuttle Endeavor in March of 1990. In this view, oriented with East up and North to the left, a dense constellation of lights defines the major metropolitan areas. Manhattan, outlined by the dark fingers of the Hudson river below and the East river above, is clearly visible along with the well lit southwestern tip of Long Island. Central Park is visible as a dark streak in the centre of Manhattan’s orange glow.
